The Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University is a public, autonomous University, in the town of Rajouri in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The University came into existence once the Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir passed the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Act in the year of 2002. The University is named after the saint Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah and its motto is “Read in the name of Allan (subhan-o-taalah) who has Created all that Exists”. The University has multiple campuses in the rural areas and tends to the needs of those underprivileged students who have been deprived of educational facilities.
The Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University is divided in various academic divisions. These academic divisions run their own departments in various specialized fields. The academic divisions of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University include the School of Mathematical Sciences and Engineering, the School of Management Studies, the School of Islamic Studies, the School of Healthcare and Pharmacy, the School of Biosciences and Biotechnology and the School of Material Sciences and Nanotechnology. The Mathematical Sciences and Engineering schools is further divided into the Department of Computer Science and IT, Department of Electronics and Communication, the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Department of IT engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Computer Sciences and Engineering, the Department of Electrical and renewable Energy and the University Polytechnic. The University has a large library with over 20000 books in its collection, of which over 4000 were added in the year 2011 alone. The library subscribes to over 20 newspapers, 75 periodicals, over 1200 digital documents and various dissertations on relevant subjects.
