The Indian Institute of Management Indore or IIM-I is a public autonomous B-School located in the Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. It was established by the Government of India in 1996 and is the 6th IIM to be established. Right uptil IIM Shillong was instituted, IIM Indore was the youngest of the IIMs. IIM-I is also the first IIM to start offering courses outside of India, by offering the Post Graduate Programme in Management at Ras al-Kgaiman in UAE. It also happens to be the first IIM to offer its PGP program in, Mumbai, India's financial capital.
The admission procedure to IIM-I is quite straightforward. CAT Exams are used as a benchmark for admissions to the Post Graduate Course in Management at Indore, Mumbai and Ras al-Khaimuh. Non Resident Indian candidates need to have passed the GMAT exam with a minimum of 650 score to apply. Admission to the EPGP programme also happens through GMAT. Other than the flagship PGP course and the PGPMX course, IIM Indore offers a Post Graduate Programme in Management which is equivalent to an MBA, a Fellow Programme in Management with various specializations such as Marketing, Systems, Operations etc., and the Management Development Programmes.
IIM Indore was initially located on a temporary campus in Rajendranagar till 2003, when it was moved to its current location. The current campus sprawls over 190 acres of land located on Rau Pithampur road near the Pithampur SEZ. The area is still under development, with more hostels and a state of the art residential quarters along with a sports complex currently under construction. At present, the campus has 14 hostels each hosting around 60 students. Each room is connected directly to an 8 Mbit/s server to the Internet. The Full time MBA course (EPEG) students, are privileged with an air conditioned hostel with super luxury accommodations. All hostels have dedicated round the clock mess and canteen facilities. The common room in each of the hostel has a satellite cable enabled 52” TV, in addition to the indoor game rooms. IIM-I also has a vast library with over 15000 management related books, 75 Indian and 350 Foreign journals and more than 1000 e-journals are available to all students.
IIM Indore has 9 activity clubs, 9 interest clubs, 10 committees and an editorial team which are all coordinated by the SAC or the Student Activity Council. Various cultural festivals are also held throughout the year, including ahvan, an annual festival, Mridang, a three day annual cultural festival, Utsaha a rural marketing far held every year and other activities. IIM Indore has ranked #5 in the best business school category by the Business Today and #6 by the Hindustan Times. Despite being a relatively new B-school, IIM Indore has consistently ranked as one of the best Business Schools in India.
