Kerala Agricultural University, abbreviated as KAU, is a public university dedicated to agricultural studies, research and learning and is located in Thrissur, Kerala, India. The university was formed in 1971 by the Government of India. Governor of Kerala is the chancellor and Dr. P. Rajendran is the Vice-chancellor of the KAU university.
There are four faculties at the university, faculty of agricultural engineering & technology, faculty of agriculture, faculty of fisheries and faculty of forestry. The courses offered in faculty of agricultural engineering & technology are B.Tech and M.Tech in agricultural engineering. The faculty of agriculture offers course like B.Sc.(Hons) Ag, M.Sc.(Ag.), M.Sc.(Hort.), M.Sc.(Food Sci. & Nutrition.) and Ph.D, M.Sc.(FS & N), M.Sc.(Ag. Stat.)- Not offered from 2011 due to the absence of qualified faculty members, M. Sc. Ag Biotech and Ph.D, M.Sc. (Integrated) Biotechnology, B.Sc. hons(C&B), M.Sc. (C&B), Ph.D, MBA in Agribusiness Management and PhD (Agriculture-various disciplines) The faculty of forestry offers B.Sc and M.Sc in forestry.
The academic department of the university includes forestry and horticulture, management, veterinary and animal science, agricultural engineering and technology. There are about five research stations at the university which includes high range cone, central zone, southern zone, northern zone and special zone of problem areas.
