Osmania University is a public university for higher education, research and learning and is located in Hyderabad, India. It was founded in the year 1918 by the Government of India and is named after Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of the Hyderabad. Mr. ESL Narasimhan is the chancellor and prof S. Satyanarayana is the Vice-chancellor of the Osmania University. It is affiliated by the NAAC, AIU and UGC. The campus is spread out in the area of 1600 acres. The campus is privileged with modern amenities and is the house of 300,000 students.
The university offers course like humanities, arts, science, social sciences, law, engineering, medicine, technology, commerce and business management, information technology and oriental languages. It was also announced the five-star university by the NAAC ( National Accreditation and Assessment Council). The university is the proud owner of the biggest library, it has 500,000 books and about 6000 manuscripts including some rare palm leave manuscripts.
