Eligibility

A bachelor’s degree in any discipline will be helpful. You can take engineering or science stream to be eligible for the same. The forest officer should be mentally & physically very fit. The age should be 21 years or over.

How to become Forest Officer

Filling of the application form of the entrance test is the 1st necessity. These entrance exams are conducted in the month of May or June. The preliminary exams have 2 papers to solve that includes:- General studies and optional subjects. After this, you are supposed to crack interviews and mental and physical fitness test. After qualifying the preliminary test, you are supposed to appear for the final test. They are then sent for training an d various other sessions . After training, they are recruited & posted as Forest officers.

Job profile of Forest Officer

A forest officer has to perform the following duties:

• He is responsible for the management of the forests under his control consistent with the objects
• The key job is the protection of the forests, propagation of flora and fauna and for the production of forest produce as well as its utilization and marketing of products.
• He is responsible for getting acquainted with the climatic and biotic factors influencing the state of forests.
• He is responsible for getting acquainted with the distribution of forests and their classification and type.
• He is responsible for getting acquainted with the Forest Act and Rules.
• It is his duty to get acquainted with office procedure and accounting in Forest Department.
