Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, is a public university of agricultural studies and is located in Dapoli, Maharashtra, India. The university was formed in the year 1972 by the Government of Maharashtra. Earlier, the university was called Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth but on 12th February, 2001, the university was renamed as Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programs in forestry, agricultural engineering, horticulture, agriculture and biotechnology. The admission process is through the common entrance examination conducted by the university. The academic department of the university includes plant pathology, agricultural botany, extension education, agronomy, agricultural chemistry, biotechnology unit, plant pathology, agricultural entomology, horticulture, animal husbandry and dairy science, agricultural engineering, farm structures, electrical and other energy sources, irrigation and drainage engineering, farm power and machinery, soil and water conservation engineering, agricultural process engineering , fisheries biology, fisheries engineering, fisheries hydrography, fisheries engineering, fisheries resources, fisheries technology, forest product and utilization, forest biology and tree improvement natural resources management and silviculture and forest management. There are about seven constituent colleges of the university which includes, college of horticulture, college of agriculture, college of forestry, college of fisheries and college of agricultural engineering & technology, college of post harvest management.
The university also offers facilities like library, hostels, students welfare, activities, sports complex, medical facilities, students council, gym, indoor-outdoor games, anti ragging act, scholarships, and many more. The university also organise annual cultural festival for students and over thousand students across the india participate in the festival.
