Karnataka Veterinary Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, is a public university of higher education in veterinary animal and fisheries sciences and is located in Bidar, Karnataka, India. It was established in the year 2005 by the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The university has collaborated with 21 institute. Dr.C. Renukaprasad is the Vice-Chancellor of the university.The facilities offered by universities are library, hostel (boys and girls separate), computer with internet facility, health center, canteen, bank, playground, gym, consumer store, shopping complex.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D programs. The undergraduate programs include Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc.&A.H), Bachelor of Technology (Dairy Technology) (B.Tech (D.Tech)), Bachelor of Fisheries Science and Bachelor of veterinary. The admission process of the university is done through the common entrance examination conducted by the university. The candidates selection is based on their performance in the examination followed by personal interviews and group discussions.
There are seven constituent colleges of the university which includes, Institute for Animal Health & Veterinary Biological, Bangalore, Livestock Research and Information Centre (Deoni), Bidar, College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Hassan, College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Shimoga, Marine Fisheries Research And Information Centre (MFRIC), Ankola, Uttar Kannada, Fisheries Research and Information Center (Inland) Hebbal, Bangalore, Fisheries Research and Information Centre (Inland), Hesaraghatta, Bangalore, Livestock Research and Information Centre, Nagamangala and Livestock Research and Information Centre, Amrut Mahal. Every year university organise annual cultural festivals for the students and over thousand students participate in the festival every year.
