Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) on 15 April 2013 announced result for Preliminary ARS Examination 2012. The prelim for ARS Examination was conducted for recruitment to the post of Scientist in 55 disciplines on 24 February 2013 at 33 centres across the country.

The candidates qualifying in Preliminary ARS Examination (qualifying type) will only be allowed to appear in the ARS – Main Examination which will be conducted on 30 June 2012. Henceforth, candidates obtaining minimum qualifying marks in ARS - Main examination will be called for Viva-Voce for the Agricultural Research Service.

After the Viva-Voce the candidates will be arranged by the Board in the order of merit in each category (professional subject-wise) as disclosed by the aggregate marks finally awarded to each candidate. Candidates who obtain such minimum aggregate marks in the written papers and Viva-Voce without fixing any minimum marks in Viva-Voce as may be fixed by the Board in their discretion shall be recommended for appointment to ARS in accordance with the number of vacancies intimated by the Council under each discipline.

The number of attempts to appear for ARS Examination however remains 4 for all candidates (whether MSc/PhD) including the in-service candidates of ICAR. The ASRB of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) conducts Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Examination for appointment as Scientists in Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

ASRB decided to conduct ARS Examination and NET Examination separately from the current session. While National Eligibility Test (NET) Examination will be conducted twice in a year; ARS (Agriculture Research Service) Examination will be held once in a year. The syllabus, however, for both ARS and NET examinations will be same.
