The Combined Research Entrance Test (CRET)-2013, conducted for admissions to the DPhil courses at Allahabad University, is being delayed as two departments of AU ie chemistry and ancient history, have not made available the details of vacant DPhil seats in their respective departments.

The university had announced to hold CRET-2013 on July 21, the application process for, which had to begin from June 10.

However, just two days before the start of the application process, the notice of its indefinite postponement was put up by the varsity officials on the AU admission website. The reason for the postponement has not been made available. Sources said the delay was because many of the heads of the departments were yet to make available the details of existing vacancies against, which admissions to the D Phil programmes is to be done to the admission cell. Earlier, five departments including Chemistry, Sanskrit, Ancient history, Economics and Geography had not provided the requisite details to the admission cell. However, later Economics and Geography departments finally made the data available.
