Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into Integrated Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program and Ph.D programs offered in Science Faculty, Engineering Faculty, Interdisciplinary areas for 2013. 

Eligibility Conditions

For Ph.D Program

• Candidate with bachelor’s or master's degree in an appropriate field of Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Medicine/Agriculture/Pharmacy/Veterinary Sciences, or master’s degree in Science in an appropriate field including Biotechnology
                             or
  Master’s in Economics, Geography, Social Work, Psychology, Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Commerce, Operations Research, Computer Science/Application as applicable to the respective departments are eligible to apply.

For Integrated Ph.D Program

• Candidates possessing a minimum of first class in B.Sc or equivalent degree in Physical, Mathematical, Chemical, Biological Sciences (including bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Veterinary  and Agricultural Sciences) are eligible to apply to an appropriate disciplines B.E/B.Tech degree holders are eligible to apply only to Mathematical Sciences discipline.
  
  
• Candidates who are yet to complete their qualifying examinations and expect to complete all the requirements for the degree (including all examinations, project dissertation, viva-voce etc.) before 31^st Jul 2013, are also eligible to apply. 

How to Apply

• Candidates can apply and download the e-brochure and application form available online only by visiting the official website. 

Selection Procedure

For Ph.D Program

• Qualifying in one of the following appropriate tests (with validity as on August 01, 2013) is mandatory :CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, or UGC-NET for JRF, or DBT JRF, or ICMR JRF, or JEST 2013, or NBHM 2013, or IISc entrance test 2013, or GATE 2012/2013 or INSPIRE Fellows (for Ph.D).
• Qualifying in these tests is not mandatory but desirable for candidates who possess a master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/M.Sc(Engineering) or MS or MBA (post B.E/B.Tech) and wish to apply for the departments in the Engineering faculty.
  
  

Note: IISc entrance test is conducted in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Ecological Sciences and Materials Science subjects. The 2013 IISc entrance test shall be last entrance test. From 2014 admissions will be based on qualifying in one of the national entrance tests indicated above.

For Integrated Ph.D Program

• The short-listing of candidates for interview is based on the performance in JAM 2013. 

Important Dates

• Last date for submission of online application forms: 22^nd Mar, 2013 (Friday)
• Date of IISc entrance test: 28^th Apr, 2013 (Sunday)
