The Vinoba Bhave University is an autonomous, public University located in the city of Hazaribagh, in the state of Jharkhand, India. The University was founded by the Government of India on the 17th of September 1992, after the University of Ranchi was bifurcated into a affiliating-cum-teaching University. The Vinoba Bhave University is recognized as one of the best Universities in Jharkhand and offers a high standard of research and teaching.
The University has 22 postgraduate departments, which include the recently founded departments of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Department, Biotechnology Department, MCA, MBA and MeD, under the faculties of Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce, Law, Engineering, Medicine, Homeopathy, Ayurveda and Education. The University has full jurisdiction over the subjects of Ayurveda, Sanskrit and Homeopathy in the state of Jharkhand. Vinoba Bhave University is currently planning a number of new courses at the Masters level such as degrees in LLB, Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing, PG Diplomas in physical education and library sciences. The University also plans on introducing 15 different vocational courses at the undergraduate level. The University has already got permission from the AICTE for its MBA and MCA courses.
The University has various colleges under its wing such as the Annada College, Birsa Institute of Technology, BS City College, Balanand Sanskrit College, Chatra College, PK Roy Memorial College, University college of Engineering and Technology among others. The University also has multiple non constituent colleges under its wing such as the Al-Iqra Teachers Training College, Baghmara College, Coalfild College, CN College, Bokaro Mahila College etc.
